So Here I Go

“So Elijah did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.

Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.” 1 King 17: 5-7

Have you ever wondered why the brooks dry up in your life? You tell yourself that you have done everything right. You follow the rules of life and believe that God has directed your steps to where you are. You settle down into life hoping that your story will close with a happy ever after fairy tale ending.

Then a crisis appears in the horizon and you begin to question God. You can’t understand why he would bring this on when you had so many other dreams. Just as the crisis seems to pass, another one comes your way. This one weakens you and bitterness begins to cling to your heart and soul.

Before being consumed with cursing God a look back into his word answers the question for Elijah and for us. “Then the word of the Lord came to him. ‘Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there.’ ”1King 17:8-9

That simple two letter word, GO. Why would God tell Elijah to go? Didn’t God send him to the brook and create the provisions he needed to live a fulfilled life? If so, why did he move him again? And if God moved Elijah how is God trying to move us? It may not be an actual move from our present home but a transition into unchartered territories where we have to rely more on God and less on ourselves. So here I go. I am not sure where but if I listen intently I am sure God will point me in the right direction.
