Rose Slugs

The rose slugs have done their work and left my rose bush in a pitiful state. They have feasted on the underside of the leaves, leaving a thin layer of tissue and veins. My negligence is to blame. If I had applied an insecticide earlier in the season, they would have been eliminated. But instead, I hoped it wouldn’t happen and left the rose slugs to have free reign over my bush.

How often do we ignore the rose slugs in our life? Bad habits or hurtful relationships that go on too long. When we finally realize our own rose slugs have eaten away at our soul, leaving us brittle and unable to experience the joy we are destined for. But thankfully, there is an insecticide specifically for our souls.

“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”(John 6:35)

Jesus came to get rid of the rose slugs of our lives. His words are life. If we would consistently apply them, then our souls would be healthy and beautiful. Just as we were created to be.
